Welcome Gracie Xavier

Gracie Headshot squareGracie Xavier joined Global Detroit’s team in August as the Director of Corporate and Economic Development Strategy. Gracie, also a Detroit Revitalization Fellow (DRF), works to connect Global Detroit programs and the immigrant talent they serve to Detroit’s corporate community and economic development infrastructure. This includes helping to lead Global Detroit’s international student retention (GTRI) and skilled immigrant integration initiatives.

Recently completing graduate school, Gracie hopes to utilize her experiences to engage disenfranchised individuals to participate in the process of rebuilding their communities by developing programs utilizing personal and creative talents for economic empowerment.

As an immigrant growing up in Miami, Florida, Gracie understood from an early age the need for effective civic engagement to bring about change in communities. Prior to joining the fellowship and Global Detroit, Gracie served as an AmeriCorps program coordinator, administering programs focused on art and technology for young people, as a program manager in New York, working on strategies to help primarily immigrant parents navigate the public school system. For fun, Gracie is an artist who enjoys dancing, photography, and volunteering.

Global Detroit is committed to the revitalization of Southeast Michigan’s economy. Like Wayne State’s DRF Program, we believe that inclusion – especially of Detroit’s many neighborhoods and communities – is key. Attracting and retaining a diverse talent pool in Metro Detroit will strengthen and grow our economy, and we are honored to be DRF employer.
